Description
Portrait of Mits Koyasako wearing a U.S. army uniform and garrison camp. Naoki ("Jack") and Tsuyoko (nee Tanoue) Koyasako were farmers who grew asparagus and onions in Clarksburg, California. They had eight children: Suenari ("Sue"), Kazuo ("Jackson), Kiyoko ("Kik"), Yoshio ("Yank"), Sueo ("Goi"), Jimmy, Tsuyako ("Chuck"), and Mitsuo ("Mits). Suenari married Alma Makashima. The Koyasako family was incarcerated at Tule Lake and took photographs with a contraband camera. Suenari was a musician in the "Paradise Melodiers" band that played in the Tule Lake administration building.
