Description
Photograph of a mining hoist in the Rocky Mountains, Canada, ca.1900-1930. A single man stands at the bottom of a large wooden structure, near the machinery of an elaborate gear-and-pulley system for hoisting mined ore. One of the ore holders hangs on the wire in front of him. Above him, higher on the structure, five men stand near a line that runs to the top of the cliff to the right, where a small shack can be seen. The rock faces and trees of the Rockies are visible all around them.
