Description
Portrait of a school group of children probably aged between five and twelve, the majority are boys but some girls sit on the left of the picture. Most children wear traditional clothes and are barefoot. An adult teacher stands to the right of the group. The school is probably connected to the work of the Reverend William Macfarlane who founded the Darjeeling and Kalimpong Mission and established many schools in the district. ❧ This image belongs to an album of photographs collected by Dr. Stevenson and includes images from India, China and Africa.
