Description
Detailed proposal for an "adult education system for the Japanese relocation project at Poston, Arizona"; the author credits the American Friends Service Committee for financial support for research and a trial of the plan. Sections of the report include "Background at Poston"; "Foreground of the Problem"; "The Great Books"; "The Seminar"; "The Schedule and Organization"; "The Curriculum" for Terms I - VI (December 1942-December 1944); "Operation in the Community"; "The Budget"; "Care and Disposition of Books"; and "Final Authority," which credits Dr. John Powell and the Japanese Adult Education Committee at Poston, recommending that Powell be given administrative authority for the program.
Many non-governmental groups sought redress for Japanese Americans incarcerated during World War II. This collection contains reports, correspondence, publicity, and other documents issued by the Committee on Resettlement of Japanese Americans, National Japanese American Student Relocation Council, Pacific Coast Committee on American Principles and Fair Play, YMCA, American Friends Service Committee, and Japanese American Citizens League. These groups sought to provide relief and support for incarcerated Japanese Americans.
