Description
Shown in 1960 is a photograph of the blighted south side of Merchant Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets. Central to the photograph and behind a tree is the abandoned Inland Press building at 508 through 510 Merchant Street. In the distance is the abanonded white-colored Eureka Engine House Number Four at 1017 Fifth Street. It was built in 1853, burned down a year later, and was rebuilt in 1855. At the time this photograph was taken, it was the home of the Happy Time Cafe.
