A young Contra soldier leans on a brick wall while at El Porvenir Farm, located two kilometers from the Honduras-Nicaragua border, in June 1983. He is wearing army fatigues in jungle-pattern camouflage, a blue beret, an unidentified yellow patch on his left shoulder, and a blue-and-white patch on his left breast pocket that reads "FDN," which identifies him as a member of Nicaraguan Democratic Force, a military organization whose members are informally known as "Contras."
