Description
Photograph is of the Bible on which George Washington took the oath of office as President of the United States on April 30, 1789. The Bible is open to the page used during the inauguration. One hundred thirty -one years later in 1920, this same Bible was used at President Warren G. Harding's request during his inauguration. The Bible is the property of St. John's Lodge No. 1 of New York City. It was printed in London in 1747.
