"This particular school is held at a Chief's village. His name is Kioi (pronounced Keeoi (eeoi dipthong)) and a really worthy man he is. He has helped us much by sending many of his own children, and insisting on his followers doing the same. We hope he too will share the blessing that is coming on them." Portrait of Kioi, a Kikuyu chief. ❧ "This Lecture was prepared by Dr J.W. Arthur in October 1911 on his voyage to Mombasa. The set of slides is the gift to the Kikuyu Mission of the Young Peoples Meeting at the Burgh Hall, Hillhead, of which he was for many years a member."
