Description
Williams took this photo from the deck of the ferryboat Yerba Buena, capturing the San Leandro ferry at the Camp Stoneman pier as soldiers wait to board in a driving rain. This photo is part of a series documenting Williams’ shipping out to Korea. The journey that started in Pittsburg, from where these ferries would carried troops to San Francisco, continued on the USS General M. C. Meigs for the two-week voyage to Japan and then on to Korea.
