Description
“Dr Jones wedding, August 12th 1920.” Group portrait of a bridal party outside the Watson-Scott Memorial Church at Kikuyu. The central group consists of Dr Irvine (left), Dr Jones, Rev. Arthur, Mrs Jones and Rev. J Youngson. Dr Stanley Ellis Jones was stationed at Kikuyu from 1914-1924 and married Elizabeth Dorothy Burnett from Echt, Aberdeenshire. Dr Irvine was working at Tumutumu at this time. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
