Description
The American River experienced the heaviest amount of dredging in California's history. A walk along the American River Parkway still leaves visitors with visible evidence of dredger trailings. Massive gold dredgers, like the one shown here during the 1940s, could be seen up and down the river, particularly at Sailor Bar or Sacramento Bar.
