Description
Pictured in January 1946 is Lester Motors Ford at 1301 K Street. Founded by Edward “Ted” Lester in 1935, the original Lester Motors Studebaker was located at Sixteenth and K. In May 1937, and after a 12,000 dollar renovation, Lester moved his business into the pictured building. In 1945, however, Lester Motors became a Ford dealer, and continued to be a Ford dealer until 1949. Soon after this picture was taken, Lester moved to an ultra modern facility on Thirteenth and I Streets. With the death of Lester in 1946, the company wasn’t the same and was sold to Burton and White Motors, which took over at 1300 I Street in 1949.
