Herald Examiner managing editor Max McCrohan hugs a fellow employee after having heard the announcement that the newspaper will be closing. The Herald Examiner newspaper came into being in 1962, after the morning Examiner, founded in 1903, merged with the evening Herald Express, dating back to around 1871. Photo dated: November 1, 1989.
