Description
View looking north up San Pedro Street from a tower of the Los Angeles and Independence Railroad depot at San Pedro and Fourth Street in downtown Los Angeles, California. The tower of the old Los Angeles County Courthouse can be seen in the background at left center and the tower of the Woodworth House at Second Street and San Pedro can be seen at right.
"View from the Santa Monica Depot, Los Angeles. 4352" and "Watkins' New Series, Yosemite and Pacific Coast 26 Montgomery Street, Woodward's Garden, S.F."--text, printed in margins. "Lindley" and "San Pedro & 5th St. Looking towards town, early 80s."--text, handwritten on verso. Title transcribed from item. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880.
