Description
Shown is a 1909 postcard depicting Sacramento Fire Department Engine House Number 4 once located at 1214 Twenty-Sixth Street. The station was built in 1906 near Sutter’s Fort. John Groth purchased the station in 1936 and converted it into a house. Station Number 4 reopened on Fifth Street. The building was torn down in 1970 and the site now hosts an apartment complex. On the back is a letter from an “S.I.” to Stella M. Rainwater of Sparks, Nevada.
