Description
Photograph shows horse-drawn carts and tractors. Written on back: Orland's first community work day. At the high school gym site with a pile of dirt disappearing, 1914. Dirt being moved to library to fill in the Library swale. Orland's first work day - entire community turned out in 1916 to move dirt excavated for the basement of the high school gym, now the music room, to the swale which cut across the newly acquired Library Park where the present library is now located. On the first wagon is Hal Templeton, directly in front Ed F. Hale, and R. C. E. Weber - Project Manager. Beyond Hale is W. L. Thompson. A dinner was served by the Women's Improvement Club in the early afternoon to all the workers. Community Work Day (Orland, Calif.) Note: Postcard type - CYKO
