Photograph of the front of the church of San Carlos Borromeo Mission in Monterey, ca.1900. Square bell tower is on the left corner. A cross is perched atop the peak of the front facade of the church proper. A picket fence fronts the property. This was the presidio chapel at Monterey -- the first site of the mission which was later moved to Carmel.
