Photograph (streetscape, horizontal photography) of a view of Spring Street, looking north from First Street, Los Angeles, ca.1870-1880. A majority of the buildings are at least three-stories tall. The street is busy with pedestrian and carriage traffic. Horse-drawn carriages are occupying most of the parking spots available along the curbs. Several streetcars are traveling down the street. Picture file card reads: "Old City Hall on left corner of Franklin St. On right, Strelitz building, site of City Hall for one year." Legible signs include: "[furni]ture & carpets", "[...] music store", "Pacific Restaurant and Oyster Parlors", "[Pe]ople's Store", "D.C.
