Photograph caption dated November 14, 1951 reads, "Wreckage of a court apartment at 1016 1/2 South Kingsley drive after gas explosion blew out rear wall and rocked the Wilshire district area early today. Dixon E. Morse,33, who suffered critical burns, said he turned on gas to kill himself because of wife's divorce suit. He changed his mind, opened door to let out gas, but lit a cigaret [sic] that ignited the gas, Morse told arson investigators."
