Description
"Zincuka. Konfirmandenklasse" ("Zincuka. Class of confirmands"). Group portrait of twenty one young people: fourteen women sitting, seven men standing behind them. Most of the women are wearing light coloured dresses, some are wearing patterned and fringed shawls. Some of the women are holding objects, maybe books, in their hands. The men are dressed in suits.
Ernst Gotthelf Marx, born in 1866 in Niesky (Germany), was a merchant. His missionary work lasted (with interruptions) from 1894 till 1931, and he was stationed in Silo and Zincuka. He died in 1947 in Zeiskam (Germany).
