Description
This headdress (copil in Náhuatl , or penacho in Spanish) is made from leather, fabric, metal, beadwork and other materials, with dyed ostrich feathers and eagle down at the center (top) of the crown. The central figure on the crown is a three-dimensional image of a black skull, possibly a representation of Mictlantecuhtli. It is decorated with feathers, gold and silver fabric, and other materials.
