Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated September 23, 1959 reads, "Kiln firing - Natural gas is fired into kiln of bricks for three days with pressure gradually building up to 1,800 to 2,200 degrees. Heat turns bricks to near lava form when they resemble red-hot ingots. At end of firing period these miniature doorways formed for gas inlets are sealed by tin plates for two to three-day cooling period, followed by five to seven-day cooling period."; See images #00114368 through #00114374 for all photos in this series.
