Description
Photograph of a dance at the Fiesta de San Esteban (Saint Stephen), Acoma Pueblo, ca.1900. The Acoma Indians are wearing traditional garments including elaborate headpieces. They carry goards and feathers in their hands as they dance. The building behind the dancers is made of adobe and wood with exposed rafter tails, while two ladders lean against it. A large tree is visible at left. Several people can be seen observing the dance from the roof.
