Maria Montez was born on June 6, 1912 in Barahona, Dominican Republic, the daughter of The Honorary Vice Consul of Spain. She was a popular actress in the United States during the 1940s. Her accent and background made her "exotic" and she starred in a series of Technicolor adventure films including "Arabian Nights" and "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves." Montez's films were very popular during World War II and she was nicknamed "The Queen of Technicolor." She married French actor Jean Pierre Aumont in 1943 and after the war they moved to Europe where she made several films. They had one child. Montez died of a heart attack on September 7, 1951.; Jean Pierre Aumont was born on January 5, 1911 in Paris, France. Aumont was in several films in France but left in 1942 as the Nazis took control of the country. He went to Hollywood and appeared in a few films before returning to Europe to join the Free French Forces. He fought in North Africa, Italy and France. For his bravery during the war, Aumont received the Legion d'Honneur and the Croix de Guerre. After the war he resumed his acting career, working in film, television and on the stage. In 1956 he married actress Maria Pavan, they had two children. He died on January 30, 2001. They will be 'Mr. and Mrs.' some time in April."
