Text under photo: "Market Street looking west from Sacramento Street. 1898." [1888 is more likely since none of the 1890s skyscrapers are in evidence.]
Market Street looking west from about Davis Street. Carriages pulled up at sidewalks. Cable and horse cars coming down street in distance. Studebaker Carriage Works on left side of street. Union Block with corner tower on right side of street at corner of Pine Palace Hotel in distance.
