Description
A Saturday night dance crowd at the Redwood Bowl, Marin Town & Country Club. Owner Max Friedman is standing on the far right with his hand on the post. Friedman, a San Francisco businessman, opened the Marin Town & Country Club on April 23, 1944. The Redwood Bowl began in 1946, and was an outdoor dance floor and often featured nationally known big bands for the Saturday night dances; the dances were broadcast over radio station KYA. The club maintained a reputation as a well-run, disciplined operation until its closure in 1972.
