Description
Photograph of Rojerio, the San Fernando Mission chorister, gathering the fruit of the cactus for food, July, 1898. The 119-year-old man stands very short at center with patched pants and dingy jacket. He holds a large stick in his right hand and wears a hat which shades his bearded face. He stands in a patch of tall, spiny plants while what appear to be prickly pear cacti stand over him. Flat, spiny discs form these large plants.
