Photograph article dated October 26, 1960 partially reads, "A Sylmar rancher who spent 40 years trying to light a cigarette is now in the process of preventing a flock of fur from flying. George Beatty, 13913 Astoria St., who spent 40 years on the vaudeville stage doing a comedy act of a drunk trying to light a cigarette, now owns a chinchilla ranch and he has one big problem - the freeway is coming right through the middle of his property." Pictured are George Beatty, left, and son, Thomas.
