Description
"Eine, ohne Wissen und Anleitung von Europäern, allein durch Eingeborene erbaute Kirche in Itimba b. Utengule." ("A church in Itimba near Utengule built only by Africans without acknowledgment and instructions by Europeans.") A rectangular building with a thatched roof. People are passing by. On the right: a tree.
Today Itimba is probably called Itumba. -- Werner Hauffe (1909-1982) was a carpenter and later a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. From 1933 to 1939, he served in Rungwe, Utengule and Isoko. In Utengule, he was an assistant to Brother Gemuseus. In 1937, he married Irmgard Wolff.
