Jennie M. Zimmerman, who moved to the Valley in 1940, had worked as a proof reader, editor, taught verse writing at Van Nuys Evening School, and was co-founder of California Federation of Chaparral Poets.
Photograph caption dated December 3, 1959 reads, "Poet's First Volume -- Mrs. Jennie M. Zimmerman, Valley poet and teacher works on revision of Odyssey translation while she awaits publication of her own poetry."
