Description
Pictured on April 7, 1953 is the Fletcher Pharmacy at 2728 J St. The business was opened in 1916 by Paul Fletcher, who handed control to his sons, Donald and Jerome, when he retired. Both men were graduates of the University of California, San Francisco, Pharmacy School. During their careers as community pharmacists, Donald served as president of the Sacramento County Pharmaceutical Association, while Jerome was an adjunct professor of pharmacy at the University of the Pacific. Donald died in 1966, and Jerome died in 2006, nearly two decades after retiring from the store in 1983.
