Photograph caption dated January 5, 1962 reads, "Doug Sanders, left, and Eric Monti were among the 150 starters today in the 36th annual Los Angeles Open golf tournament at Rancho. Sanders, third leading money winner on the tour for 1961, and Monti, popular Hillcrest Country Club pro, are highly regarded in this colorful tee classic. Monti is shown hitting an iron shot, the ball (arrow) just leaving clubhead."
