Title

Description
Slide Series, Bangladesh 1990: "Leprosy - the old scourge" - No. 14: A leper boy. For successful treatment it is important to find patients, before damage has occurred. In the long term, the leprosy work should preferably lead to treatment, when the first spots appear. It happened with this boy, brought to treatment at the clinic by his grandmother. With only a few signs it may be difficult to determine whether it is leprosy, as the symptoms can resemble many skin diseases. And due to the social consequences it is very essential not to call somebody a leper - not being this. After receiving a new patient, it is important to check the patient's environment for leprosy and to repeat this at regular intervals, as it may take months to years from the time of infection to outbreak of the disease.
