Description
Ready to testify in the investigation into the charges that the Civic Center has been honeycombed with listening posts by wiretapping "super-snoopers" of the mayor's and district attorney's offices, five present and former public officials are shown on January 29, 1942, at the opening of the probe. Left to right, Councilman Norris J. Nelson; Ross McDonald, deputy chief of police; Ray Penker, police chemist; Arthur Hohmann, former chief of police, and Paul Harrison, who assertedly worked under McDonald and Hohmann.
