Description
1989-1294. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 39. In front of photo is a low masonry wall with a staircase of 3 steps on the left; above rises the Tomb of "Edgar Mills" identified on its side; tomb is raised on a pedestal and has blocky columns at each corner of the tomb; other grave markers and tombs are crowded behind and in front of this principal tomb; in the background at the left and right are leafy trees. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "brother of D.O. Mills, William, James E. Niles and his sister, Adalaide (Mrs. A. Easton). Born Oct. 18th, 1827. Died, Jan 10, 1893. his sons buried here are Edgar Mills, Jr., ... Chas. E. Mills...Frank S. Mills..."
