Description
Photo--black and white: Bill Hendren with panther hide at home in Coleman Valley. From Wade Sturgeon's Diary: December 12, 1912 Wm. Hendren and Bill hook killed the much talked of mountain lion this afternoon. The dogs treed it after it had fed upon a forked horn deer. It measured 8 ft. 6 in from tip to tip. So this snap shot was later in this December or sometime in the year 1913. (Notice Coleman Valley school with Susie horse pulling buggy. Bill has the same hat and suit as in this snap-shot. I thought it was a woman but his sister Elizabeth Hendren Graham, assured me it was her brother William Hendren. Photo identified by Ralph Sturgeon as "CIT-171."
