Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Carpenter's Sandwiches restaurant at the corner of Sunset Avenue and Vine Street, ca.1920-1929. The Carpenter's Sandwiches restaurant sits at center, surrounded by a paved street or parking lot. The one-story building appears to be octagonal its sign reading "Carpenter's Sandwiches" reaches high into the air above the restaurant. Below those signs hang menu panels, displaying a variety of sandwiches and beverages. A tiled car counter sits inside the building, with a few chairs along its left side two women stand in front of it, facing the camera. A man at the right side of the image leans toward an automobile that is parked to his right, apparently speaking to the driver. Other commercial buildings are visible in the left background, while hills can be seen in the distance to the right. Legible signs from left to right include: "Carpenter's Sit'N Eat. Sit'N Eat Sandwiches. Service in your car. A real hamburger sandwich 15 cents with all the trimmings. Pure frozen orange juice 10 cents and 15 cents".
