Title
Jens Christensen (JCh), born 1899 in Chicago of Danish parents. Education as missionary pastor
Jens Christensen døde i 1967

Description
Jens Christensen (JCh), born 1899 in Chicago of Danish parents. Education as missionary pastor at New York Missionary Training School, 1918-21. Sent to Pakistan/NWFP, 1922. After contact to the Tent Mission, with work at a women's hospital in Mardan, he met with the Danish Missionary Nurse, Margrethe Rasmussen, and they married in 1926. Then Rev. JCh was employed by the Tent Mission and continued here until 1962. He served as pastor for the local Christians, evangelized all over the district, and wrote mission literature in the local Pastho language. After several turbulent periods with theological disagreements, Rev. JCh became leader of the mission for many years, from 1935. Name of the mission was changed to Danish Pathan Mission in 1937. From 1955 the independent Pakistan Lutheran Church was founded, and JCh (with others) wrote the Church Constitution, accepted at the first Synod meeting,2nd November 1955. Here Rev. JCh was elected to Bishop of the Church. (Photo is from the consecration, 11th December 1955). The following years continued with lots of cooperation problems, which at the end resulted in a break with JCh in 1962. After this, he continued until 1966, in the newly founded "Society for support to Church of Pakistan". Jens Christensen died in 1967.
