Description
Photograph of the Sacramento Air Depot under construction at McClellan Field in 1939. Renamed from the Pacific Air Depot in 1938, the United States Army Air Corps rapidly expanded the small airfield into a dedicated repair base for aircraft, replacing Rockwell Field in Coronado, CA. The Air Corps constructed a new hospital (right, middle), fire station (right, furthest), and officer wing (left, nearest two) on this street. Taken in 1939.
