This circa 1940 postcard depicts the elephant-themed tram at the California World's Fair on San Francisco Bay, with the Lakes of the Nations and the Federal Building, prominently featuring the Colonnade of the States, in the background. This World's Fair, also known as the Golden Gate International Exposition, was held on San Francisco's Treasure Island during 1939 and 1940. The event also commemorated the opening of the Golden Gate and Oakland Bay Bridges.
