Description
"... Freeport Plaza Shopping Center at Freeport Blvd., left, and Portrero Way in which Thrifty Drug Stores will open its 11th Sacramento area facility on Thursday. Thrifty will occupy the larger of the three buildings which make up the main shopping arcade. The building has 18,144 square feet of floor space. The structure nearest Portrero Way will house the Freeport branch of the United California Bank with a second floor of offices, and the structure between it and Thrifty will be occupied by shops. The round, folded roof structure in foreground nearest the corner houses a bakery-confectionery of the MacFarlane Candy Company. George F. Lloyd is owner and developer of the property and the general contractor is the Campbell Construction Company. The architect was Dean F. Unger for all save the MacFarlane pavilion; that was designed by San Francisco architect Jock McKay. Development cost of the center, for land and construction is close to $1 million"
