Gerald (Gerry) Cowhig, 38, former Notre Dame and Los Angeles Rams football great, of 14244 Califa St., suffered minor injuries early today after his car struck a concrete light standard at the Highland Ave. off-ramp of the Hollywood Freeway. He was treated at Hollywood Receiving Hospital for a possible fractured left hand and minor head injuries. The car was demolished. Photograph dated August 19, 1959.
