Photograph of a Hopi Indian family (mother, 4 children, father) at the ladder leading to the entrance of their dwelling, ca.1900. A non-Indian woman sits at the far left. The adobe pueblo house against which the ladder leans consists of two levels. Plants from a harvested crop hang drying from the wall of the second floor. Baskets and kachina dolls sit at the foot of the ladder. A tin can sits in a window near the non-Indian woman.
