Photograph article dated December 15, 1949 partially reads, "A safe believed to have been stolen in a Ventura County burglary has been found in Brown Canyon, north of Devonshire St., Chatsworth, Valley police reported. The safe, wrapped in a sack, was found by Paul Browning and Joe Smith, both of Route 1, Simi, during a search for junk metal. Police Officer G. Moulder said the gunny sack bore the trademark American Crystal Sugar Co., Oxnard." Photograph caption reads, "Looted safe - Valley Policeman G. R. Perry examines strong box in brown Canyon, north of Devonshire. Officers learn safe was taken in burglary from Ventura County shop."
