Description
Photograph of the alleged "speakeasy map" of the National Capital. "606184... Watch your credit... International Newsreel slug (speakeasy map) | Alleged "speakeasy map" of the National Capital | Washington, D.C.... This startling record of "Prohibition" during 1931 in the National Capital was prepared by "the crusaders" and is said to be based upon the records of the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, although the department is reported to have been unwilling to cooperate in the undertake. It is pointed out that a total of 1671 warrants for liquor raids were issued in 1931, each warrant being issued only after agents had twice purchased intoxicating beverages as "separate buys." It is remarked that practically no section of the city is without its quota of drink dispensaries" -- typed note attached to verso. "Received. Examiner reference library. February 20, 1932" -- stamped on verso.
