V1p286b In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 286 center. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written on photo: "Portola Day Celebration 1910 ['2' visible under the '0']." Text written to right:" "Palace Hotel [next to hotel]. California Greys with band [arrow pointing at formation]." Photo shows a parade on Market Street taken from the Mutual Savings building just west of Kearny and looking east. The Chronicle Building is on the left; the Palace Hotel on the right. Muni tracks and overhead leading from Geary into Market are plainly visible indicating that, according to Anthony Perles' "Inside Muni," this photo could not have been taken before 1913.
