"On fame's eternal camping ground their silent tents are spread and glory guards, with solemn round, the bivouac of the dead" (written by Theodore O'Hara in memory of the Kentucky troops killed in the Mexican War, 1847). To the soldier dead, Los Angeles today paid solemn and impressive Memorial Day tributes over the city. Stirring exercises were held at the Soldeir's Home at Sawtelle. Photo shows World War nurses marching in the parade of 2000 veterans through the "silent tents" at the soldiers' cemetary. Photo dated: May 30, 1935.
