Description
Black and white lantern slide showing earthquake damage from the Bihar earthquake of 15 January 1934, one of the most serious earthquakes in India's history. Bricks can be seen piled on the ground where the arch of a building has collapsed. This photograph was possibly taken in Gopalganj, and was published in the report of the disaster in the periodical of Regions Beyond Missionary Union, Regions Beyond, in March / April 1934. This slide comes from a collection created by missionaries from Regions Beyond Missionary Union, an interdenominational Protestant evangelical mission working in northeast India (Bihar and Orissa) and Nepal.
