Photograph caption dated March 12, 1987 reads, "This Newport Beach Bell 300 police helicopter was relatively unscathed when it crashed after midair collision with Costa Mesa Bell 500, consumed by fireball on impact." Two investigators are seen walking away from the crash site in Bonita Canyon, an area of Irvine.
