Description
Resting in the California State Railroad Museum at 111 I Street in circa 1990 is the Central Pacific Railroad's "Governor Stanford" locomotive, also known as Number One. The Exhibit simulates the locomotive's role in aiding the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. In the background is faux granite, meant to be a section of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
